Privacy policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
The short version
type-type does not require an account and does not store the text you type. The typing test and keyboard tester run in your browser. Optional analytics and advertising tags only measure after you accept cookies.
What the tests do
Keystrokes are handled locally by JavaScript. Typing results and keyboard state stay in the page and are discarded when you close or reload it. The site does not send your typed text, WPM, accuracy or key presses to a server.
Local storage
The site uses browser local storage, not first-party cookies, for a few preferences:
type-type:effectsremembers whether the celebration effect is on.type-type:typing-settingsremembers caret and display preferences.type-type:consentremembers your cookie choice.
You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. Clearing the consent value makes the banner appear again.
Analytics and advertising
If the owner configures Google Analytics or Google Ads, those tags load after the page is interactive. Consent Mode v2 denies ad and analytics storage by default until you choose. Events may include a test starting or finishing, WPM, accuracy, test duration and how many keyboard keys were tested. They never include your typed text.
After consent, Google may set cookies or read identifiers according to its own policies. See Google’s privacy policy. You can change your choice with or the button in the footer.
Fonts
The monospace font is self-hosted with the site. The emoji font used by the celebration effect is requested from Google Fonts only when that effect first runs, so no font request is made before you type. That request shares your IP address with Google.
Server logs
The hosting provider may record standard request logs such as IP address, user agent and time for security and reliability. These logs are not used to identify individual visitors.
Your choices
You can decline optional cookies without losing access to either test. You can also clear local storage, use a browser that blocks third-party requests, or contact us to ask a question about this policy. See our terms of use.
Contact
Questions about privacy can be sent to contact@type-type.app. We may update this policy when the site changes; the date above shows the latest revision.
